Black Box keeps your favorite wines fresh for at least four weeks after opening without refrigeration.

That’s because the wine is stored in a vacuum-sealed bag inside the box that prevents the oxidation that degrades bottled wines soon after opening. As you dispense wine from the box, the bag collapses around the remaining wine, preventing air from entering the container.
Black Box wines are ready to drink now. For optimal freshness, white wines are at their best within the first 9 months after packaging, and red wines within 12 months. The date the wine was packaged is stamped on the bottom of the box, right below the opening and pouring instructions. To determine optimal freshness of the wine, add 9 months to the packaging date. Although bag-in-box wines stay fresher much longer than bottled wines when opened, they have a shorter life when stored because, over time, microscopic amounts of oxygen pass through the surface of the bag into the wine, aging the wine. This happens with bottled wine, too, but at a slower pace. Black Box retailers normally pull our wines off the shelf if they’re past their prime, but if you buy one that’s too old or doesn’t taste right, return it to the retailer. If that’s not convenient, contact us and we’ll send you a replacement, provided the laws in your state permit us to do so.
