Frozen Grapes

Here’s a simple recipe with just three ingredients: Black Box Wines Red Blend, grapes and sugar. Marinate the grapes in the wine for 12 hours, then drain. Toss the grapes in the sugar, freeze two hours and enjoy. These are the perfect treat after a weekend farmers market run.

Raspberry Rosé Sorbet

Packed with summer flavor from seasonal raspberries, a cooling wine sorbet made with Black Box Wines Rosé gets a double chill from the ice cream maker and the freezer. Use your imagination and experiment with your favorite fruits or berries to delight (and cool) your friends at your next get-together.

  • 2 cups (500 ml) rosé wine
  • 2/3 cup (130 g) sugar
  • 3 cups (340 g) raspberries, fresh or frozen

In a medium saucepan, bring the rosé and sugar to a boil. Remove from the heat, add the raspberries and let cool to room temperature. Puree in a blender or food processor and then press the puree through a strainer to remove the seeds.

Chill the mixture thoroughly, then freeze.

Frosé Ice Pops

Fresh strawberries and Black Box Wines Rosé combine for a refreshing and seasonal treat for grown-up parties. Pick up a set of popsicle molds and you’re ready to go! These wine popsicles can be made ahead for a rainy day… Or any day.

  • 6 ounces strawberries, hulled (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 2 ounces fresh raspberries (about 1/3 cup)
  • 1 2/3 cups dry rosé
  • 1/2 cup ruby red grapefruit juice, preferably fresh
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup whole or sliced fresh strawberries and raspberries

Special Equipment

  • 10 (2.5-ounce) freezer ice-pop molds and sticks

Purée strawberries, raspberries, rosé, grapefruit juice, and sugar on high speed in a blender until smooth. Strain into a large measuring cup; discard seeds and foam.

Divide strawberry mixture among ice-pop molds, leaving about 1″ space at the top. Freeze until slushy, about 1 hour. Stir with an ice-pop stick, then add fresh berries, stirring to incorporate with stick.

Cover molds, insert sticks, and freeze until ice pops are solid, at least 4 hours. Ice pops can be made 3 months ahead. Freeze until solid, then transfer to an airtight container and keep frozen.

Granita, Please

Granitas are semi-frozen desserts that originated in Sicily, known for its bright sun and heat. Add a twist to this traditional adult slush with Black Box Wines Chardonnay (and, if you like, a splash of your favorite fruity liqueur).

  • 2 cups full-bodied white wine
  • 1⁄2 cup unsweetened apple juice
  • 1⁄3 cup water
  • 1⁄2 cup sugar
  • Dried apple slices, for serving

Place wine, juice, sugar, and ⅓ cup water in a bowl, and whisk until sugar is completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Pour into a 9″ x 13″ baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and place in the freezer. Using the tines of a fork, stir the mixture every 30 minutes, scraping edges and breaking up any ice chunks as the mixture freezes, until granita is slushy and frozen, about 3 hours. Scoop into chilled serving glasses and top with apple slices if you like.
